Broken Brake Band Gause Accident at Sheridan Well
An accident at the Compton Gas well two miles south of Sheridan occurred Friday during cleaning of an abandoned hole. A broken brake band on the bull wheel released the drills into the derrick, tearing down most of the structure and causing tools to be lost at a depth a little over one thousand feet. The company estimates about seven hundred dollars in expenses and notes a year of prior bad luck with five dry holes.
