The Sheridan commencement at the Opera House Friday evening awarded thirty five diplomas to fifteen young women and twenty young men. Dr Robert J Aley State Superintendent gave the class address on The Weight of a Man. Bernard McKinzie delivered the Salutatory American Ideals and Miss Mamie Lee the valedictory A Golden Inheritance. F V Kercheval presented the diplomas as the largest commencement audience yet and the stage displayed old gold and black colors with white carnations.

Beloit minister visits family before Canada posting
Lloyd-Minister W. M. Robbins of Beloit Wisconsin toured his relatives here for part of the week before leaving for Lloyd-Minister Canada. He will be stationed for four months installing a gas producer similar to the local light plant. The area lies 800 miles west of Winnipeg in the wheat belt highlighted by the Canadian government.

Petition Granted for Cement Sidewalks on Sheridan Avenue
The city board granted another petition for cement sidewalks on Sheridan Avenue, one square west of California, marking the second approval of this kind this year. Elihu Barker Dies at 88 After Influenza Attack
Elihu Barker died Saturday at his son Guerney Barker's home in the south part of town from a brief influenza attack. He was 88 and had lived in the township for many years, leaving a son J. G. Barker and a daughter Mrs. Elwood Millikan. Burial was at Union Grove on Monday. Miss Harriet Ward will spend the summer at Winona.
