Noblesville Indiana May 11 1911 twelve hours deliberation ends with jury finding for the defendant in the J C Perry Company of Indianapolis against Carl Thomas of Carmel. Plaintiff sought $321 in damages not an account. Homestead exemption potential noted. Also mentions other local court actions and probate notices.
Mothers Day will be observed at the Christian Bible School next Sunday morning at 9 30 with an appropriate program. The custom originated five or six years ago by an eastern lady and has since been adopted by the International Sunday School Association. All attendees are asked to wear a flower, white preferred.
J G Antrim and his wife will reside at the Chris Wilson property on West Third street during construction of a new two story nine room home on the site of the old Ohio street house. Hugh Dick drew the plans and will oversee the building work.
Leslie Blessing and Chale will represent the local Hay Loft at the State Meeting of the Haymakers Association in the capital city next Wednesday and Thursday. A number of other brethren will also attend from here.
Memorial Services announced for May 28 at the Christian church with Rev. Burns and Miss Lula Cox among participants. Decoration Day events on May 30 include a G A R march to Crown View cemetery, graves decorated by children, and a program featuring Lincoln s Gettysburg Address and Address by E J Mendenhall. Additional services planned in M E Church. Citizens urged to attend with orderly procession from G A R hall. Local moves note Attica schools principal John Teter relocating to Wat Stahl farm. telegraph operator delegates head to Toronto.
The funeral for Josiah E Cox who hanged himself last Thursday was held at Terhune U B church with large Odd Fellows turnout. He was 56, left a wife and three children Linzie Audrey and Retha, and had health issues blamed for temporary insanity. The coroner said death resulted from a premeditated hanging with a rope tied to a rafter. neighbors Vint McKenzie and Charles Murdock helped remove the body.
The remains of A. Y. Helfer who died Friday morning at Wilkinson were brought here Saturday afternoon and taken to the home of his oldest son Marion near Boxley. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Boxley Sunday at 9 a.m. conducted by Rev. Liddle. He left here years ago and lived in several places. A wife and three sons survive. Death due to senile gangrene.
More than seventy applications for the Sheridan schools superintendent job have arrived in the past week as the board prepares to elect a successor to Prof. Llewelyn. Applicants arrived by mail phone and in person, all largely unknown to the board, which will conduct hearings and a thorough elimination process before selecting a new leader.
Concerts are planned for Wednesday nights over fifteen weeks starting the last night of the month. Businessmen are asked to support and merchants to vote on preferred concert nights. The series, begun a few years ago, proved popular and would enhance summer entertainment.
The Hamilton County Rural Carrier's Association to hold a Saturday night meeting at Red Men's hall with a program and supper. Pp. A. Bray of Noblesville to lead, W. J. Ward of Carmel to attend. The group includes about twenty five carriers. Also notes return of Neva Stephenson and Eva Davis from South Dakota teaching posts and the appointment of Prof. J. C. Pidgeon as Carmel schools superintendent succeeding J. W. Starn.
