Indiana court approves sale by weight law for groceries
Sheridan merchants must sell by weight under a new Indiana act effective May 1. The law requires items such as fruits vegetables nuts sugar and meats to be sold by avoirdupois weight or counted, with specific carve outs for fresh berries and certain farm sales and penalties rising from ten to one hundred dollars plus imprisonment.

Death Of A Pioneer Resident
John Stahl a pioneer resident died at his Second street home after months of paralysis and age related illness. He lived in Sheridan six or eight years before moving from a Boone County farm and was a successful yarder who reared a large family now living nearby except Mrs R N Hand of Nosenberg Texas. Survived by widow and children W F Home George Freement Allen and Miss Minnie. He was buried at Crown View Cemetery Saturday.

Baker George W. Johnson dies after short illness
George W. Johnson a 37 year old bachelor and baker who worked in Thorntown died at his brother J B Johnson's home in Sheridan after a weeklong confinement. He had long declining health and was a member of the Sheridan lodge of Red Men. Funeral services were held Tuesday with burial at Crown View Cemetery.

Almost A Century Old Henry Rigby Dies At 96
Henry Rigby died Tuesday morning at his son Marion Rigby’s home near Ekin of cancer of the face. He was 96 and is survived by two children Marion and Mrs. Dan Bennett of Pickard and seven grandchildren. Funeral Thursday was conducted by Rev. Foster of Tipton with burial in Ridge Cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Sarah Ann Wells at Boxleytown
Mrs. Sarah Ann Wells, widow of Louis Wells formerly of Sheridan, died at her Boxleytown home Friday from stomach cancer at age 53. Funeral conducted by Rev. H. T. Arnold at the Christian church Monday with burial in Spencer Cemetery. Six children survive.
