Riffs Boarders and Court Work Fill Noblesville Journal

Noblesville Indiana notes show James Applegate fined by Squire Maker and jailed for twelve days. Sheriff Waddell reports fifteen boarders, then fourteen after Claude Parsley’s release. Ida Lakwins, a colored inmate, serves time for assault. Judge Parr from Lebanon presides over Ed Baker county surveyor case against the Board of Commissioners, venue change from Judge Vestal. Essie Creek wins divorce from Vernon Creek with property about 600 dollars. Emeline Wilkins obtains divorce from William Wilkins in circuit court. Harriet Lockwood sues John C. Craig for return of money deposited with Farmers and Merchants Bank of Cicero.

Sheridan I O R M Attends District Meeting

The Sheridan I O R M lodge led by John Pulliam as Degree Captain traveled to Noblesville for the district meeting of Red Men. Twelve tribes attended, with representatives from Kokomo Indianapolis Elwood Sharpsville Sheridan Tipton Winamac and Cicero. A red fire parade with music highlighted the evening.

Death of Samuel McCoskey at Kirklin home

Samuel McCoskey aged 75 formerly resided near Terhune died at his son D. H. McCoskey's home near Kirklin after a brief lagrippe illness. He leaves three children. His wife died recently. He worked in real estate for several years. Funeral held at Terhune with burial in Spencer Cemetery.

Bulletin Board Displays Markets At The Bank

The First National Bank installed a bulletin board in its banking room to show Indianapolis and Chicago live stock markets daily. Reports arrive at nine o'clock and are displayed for in person viewing, with phone access for those who cannot visit.

Delegates Set for Hamilton County Next State Convention

Hamilton county will send fourteen delegates to the forthcoming state convention. The total statewide delegate count reaches 1168, down 211 from two years ago, with the four teen delegates from Hamilton highlighted in the plan.

Mrs Ellen Beam Dies From Heart Trouble at 74

Mrs Ellen Beam wife of G W Beam died at the family residence two miles northeast of Sheridan Friday morning from heart trouble. She was 74 and survived by her husband two sons George and Ted a daughter Rosa two brothers W H and T D Baker and an older brother Joseph who died recently in Ohio. Funeral was Monday conducted by Rev Graham with burial at Crown View.

Talk on Hogs Here Saturday at Library

Prof C G Starr of Purdue will give a talk to farmers tomorrow at 2 30 at the Library building on Hog Cholera and Prevention. Lantern slides will illustrate the lecture and it is free and open to all interested in hog raising.

Local residents return from Florida trip

R N Crumbaugh and wife and several neighbors have returned from a winter visit in Florida. J S Kercheval and wife with A Steffey and Arza Smith and wife plan a later return. Mrs Smith and Mrs Thistlethwaite recently were on the sick list.

Picture Show Changes Owners at Ideal Theater

C. H. Caldwell sold the Ideal Theater to Mr. Spray of Frankfort who assumed charge Wednesday. Mr. Spray plans to move his family here after Frankfort school term ends.

Monon Case Rehearing Granted on Carmel Train Stops

The utilities commission granted a rehearing in the Carmel case against the Monon railroad to compel trains 32 and 37 to stop at Carmel. Further arguments were heard last week and the commission may sustain the prior order. The railroad had refused to comply and asked for a rehearing.

Orin Jessup Land Co to Hold Another Auction

Bad weather reduced attendance at the Opera House meeting for the Orin Jessup Land Company. One lot drew a $150 bid and may sell at that price if another meeting is not held. Other nearby sales were successful with lots around $250.

Township Schools Clsosed. Adams Township Schedules Closing

All grade schools in Adams township will close Tuesday except Ekin school which will close Saturday. The term has lasted six and a half months. Boxley high school will close May fourth after an eight months course.

Sunday Schools Aim to Enroll 1500 on Easter Day

Local Sunday school workers push to enroll 1500 students on Easter Sunday, April 4, citing a surge in attendance. Last Sunday set a county record near 1000, with four churches reporting 889. two others not yet reported.
