Grand Jury Ends Its Session Indictments Filed in Indiana

Noblesville Indiana March 14 1912 the grand jury finished its work and reported to the judge with thirty two indictments largely liquor law violations. It explored the mystery of Harvey Taylor's disappearance and inspected the Poor Farm Jail while approving road contracts and settlements in the Oliver Lindley estate.

White plague victim Ary Stephenson dies at 34 near Sheridan

Ary Stephenson aged 34, a farmer living three miles west of Sheridan in Boone county, died Saturday night after a two year illness. Funeral was held at his home Monday afternoon with burial at Bethel. He leaves a wife and three children.

Lodge of Knights of Pythias Installs Two New Members

The Knights of Pythias lodge initiated C. O. Ogle and Lem Kercheval into the mysteries of the degree Tuesday evening. Additional petitions for the first degree were approved for next Tuesday. The degree team has been reorganized with young leader W. R. Kercheval taking charge and prospecting for strong work in the first and third degrees.

Local men appear before grand jury in Noblesville case

A number of local men were called before the Noblesville grand jury late last week to report their knowledge of alleged liquor selling by a Sheridan druggist. A separate incident says a drunk teenaged youth went home enraging his father, who bought a half pint to press arrest, but nothing resulted.

McMath and Owens Trade Farms Near Sheridan

John Henry McMath and Sylvain Owens have swapped farms. McMath owned 160 acres four miles northeast of Sheridan. Owens owns 100 acres a half mile north and one mile east of that location. Both properties are described as highly improved.

Township Schools Close Across County With Short Terms

Most township schools ended by mid week or later while Boxley High School remained open. Adams township reports only six months of school this year, the county’s shortest term, whereas other townships run six and a half months as the ideal country school term.

Cyrus Johnson Dies at Westfield Prominent Washington County Farmer

Cyrus Johnson aged 54 a prominent Washington township farmer died at his Westfield home Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services were at the M E church in Westfield with burial at Summit Lawn cemetery. He leaves a wife and five children Theodore Johnson of this place and Mrs Sue Walker of Lafayette are the remaining members of the Johnson family.

Indiana Farmers Brace For Delayed Sowing After Severe Winter

Severe winter conditions have frozen fields delaying sowing of oats and wheat in Indiana. Farmers report pig losses from cold weather and expect forage crops to relieve hay shortages while forage crops and northern crops may still succeed with early or late planting depending on conditions. The Hoosier farming community remains hopeful despite hardships and aims to maximize regional resources.

Oldest Native Born Resident of Adimas Township

In a town dispute Rev Eber Teter and John P Bradfield debated who is the oldest native born resident of Adimas township. Bradfield claims 1844 birth, Teter 1846, while Dr T J McMurtry was born in 1841. The question concerns those still living in the township.

Light Plant Out of Operation After Gear Breaks Sunday

A broken timing gear on the gag engine at the light plant Sunday night halted operations early in the week. It was hoped the plant would resume by the latter part of the week if a replacement part arrived from the factory. The Indianapolis Daily Sun and The Sheridan News cost $2.50 for one year.
