Noblesville Indiana March 13 1919 lawyers in the Madison Brooks will case agreed Judge Walker of Greenfield will preside at trial. He was picked from five judges offered by Judge Cloe after both sides struck two names. No trial date set. likely October term.
The U S Department of Agriculture reports Indiana corn reserves on farms March 1 at 57 648 000 bushels 34 percent of the 1918 crop down from 85 443 000 last year. Wheat oats and barley show gains over last year and the 10 year average. Nationwide corn reserves total 884 476 000 bushels down from 1 292 905 000. Barley reserves stand at 333 000 bushels, up from 168 000. land values also rise.
Clocks nationwide advance one hour on March 30 as daylight saving time resumes after repeal efforts fail. The official change occurs at 2 a.m., but many will adjust by moving clocks forward before bed on March 29. Clocks fall back on the last Sunday in October.
Cody Losey, a 32 year old farmer living near Bethel church east of Slab town, died Tuesday of influenza leaving a wife and five children. Son of Marcus Cody, a former Sheridan resident, he was buried at Crown View cemetery after a Thursday funeral. Several neighbors are seriously ill with influenza.
The Business Mens Association raises almost $1000 toward a $10,000 goal to secure an automobile tire factory for Sheridan. A committee led by D F Hutchens and others investigated in Indianapolis and will report after a library meeting Friday night. John A Johnson of Indianapolis displayed a tire prototype, with rubber to be sourced from Chicago. The company owns a steel portion machine in Topeka, Kansas, and Sheridan stockholders total 110 as the campaign continues.
Local physicians report the crest of the present influenza epidemic has been reached and cases should decline. This wave has been the most violent here since last year with many cases complicated by bronchitis and frequent pneumonia, some resulting in fatalities.
John Hiatt sold the seventy two acre farm northwest of Sheridan which he recently purchased from Dick McKinzie to John McKinzie for 225 dollars per acre. McKinzie will not get possession for a year as the farm is rented this season to Russel Storms who is currently on the place.

Dr Johnson urged for local service. Jesse Shapley discharged from Devens. Lon Cooper’s son Carl to Cobenz Germany with food convoy. Carl then at Givens France. Mrs Young hears Dr Young moved to Parthenance and hopes for summer home.

Furnas bill No 51 allows small incorporated towns under two thousand residents to discontinue their school boards and have township trustees take over school property. No 238 permits two thirds of town debt to be assumed by the civil town with the remainder by the school town, under a framework designed to ease funding pressures.
