Sherian’s Oldest Merchant 81 Dies After Illness
Joel M. Richardson died Saturday at his West Fourth Street home after a ten day illness from yellow jaundice and complications. He was 81 years old and the oldest merchant on the street, having come to Sheridan 28 years ago to run a shoe shop and previously a mercantile dealer at Boxley for 17 years. He taught in Washington township schools and is survived by his widow and a daughter Mrs. Eugene Gifford. a son died last year. Funeral services were Monday at 11 A.M. at the residence, Rev. Wolff officiating, with burial at Crown View cemetery.

Five Cars Found Without 1923 License Plates
State motor officer McCormick found five cars on Main street without 1923 plates. Names include Thomas Harbaugh, Sheridan Packing Co, William Snodgrass, L M Burton, and F D Bassett of Kempton. Bassett pleaded guilty and paid 8.45 dollars total. Harbaugh had plates in hand but was interrupted by a customer.

Ford Touring Car Wrecked by Interurban near Arcadia
A Ford touring car owned by Hayes Remsen from Sheridan Rural Route 6 was wrecked Sunday night when struck by an interurban as it stalled on tracks near Arcadia. Paul Remsen Froward Jes sup and Harold Burton drove the car. lights failed and the men could not move it. Interurban tracks derailed and traffic paused for two hours before wrecking crew cleared them. The party returned home in another Sheridan car.

Lebanon Wins Sectional Tourney Title Run Ends Section
Adams township schools showed little at the sectional tournament in Lebanon with Sheridan and Boxley each losing their only game. Boxley fell to Fishers 20 to 2 and Sheridan lost to Atlanta 16 to 12. Arcadia upset by Carmel 24 to 21, after previously beating Perry Central 32-17. Carmel’s overtime loss to Advance 31-25 dampened Harmiston county hopes while Lebanon defeated Fishers and Atlanta, using subs for a 27-9 win. Boone county teams overall outplayed Hamilton county squads.

Death follows recreation trip of Frank Colby in California
Frank Colby died Sunday morning March 4 in Los Angeles after arriving Feb last day, reportedly from heart trouble. He aged 65, survived by two sons Alonzo Clark and Fred, two daughters Florence, with three brothers and three sisters. He led Sheridan gas plant operations, formed a company to rebuild it, and owned a wheat farm north of town with high yields. Funeral plans awaited body arrival in Sheridan with Masonic and Scottish Rite rites expected.
