Influenza Fatal to Aged Young Girl in Texas Town
Vivian Hawkins died Monday afternoon at her parents home near Big Springs at fourteen after ten days of flu. She was the third of six children of Mr and Mrs E B Hawkins and survived by her parents grandfather Henry Burris and siblings Lawrence Mabel Vernon Dortha and Jesse Fern. Funeral at Lawes Chapel church followed by burial in Bethel cemetery conducted by Rev C A Berry.

He is 79 and she 76. they have eight living children.

William Russell Died Suddenly of Heart Trouble
William Russell, residing with his daughter Mrs Willis Worley west of Sheridan in Boone county, died Friday morning of heart trouble. He was 81 or 82, worked as a carpenter in Sheridan, served as marshal in the 1890s, and came to Indiana at the Civil War start from North Carolina. Survived by four sons Guervey Charles Harless William and one daughter. Funeral at Rome with burial at Crown View cemetery.

Lafayette Road work praised as best kept in county
Survey results show the six and one half mile Lafayette road from Sheridan to Range Line well maintained under D C Leonard since October 5. Total county road funds for 800 miles averaged 133.75 per mile yearly, while Leonard spent about 108, with only 12 spent after February traffic damage. Adams township seeks Leonard’s control to Noblesville, hoping a tractor can extend upkeep beyond Range Line for a uniform quality road.

Flue Fire Destroys Bakers Corner House
The eleven room house of R. W. Pickett at Bakers Corner burned Saturday afternoon, likely from an overheated flue. The fire was too far advanced to stop. lower floor furnishings were saved while upper rooms were lost. Insurance was £1200 on the building and $509 on contents. Pickett family will stay with his mother until the summer rebuild.

Mrs Heaps Operated On for Appendicitis at Long Hospital
Mrs L. E. Heaps was admitted to the Long hospital late Saturday afternoon and underwent a third operation for appendicitis. Her illness began last fall with a lengthy hospital stay and her wound has repeatedly failed to heal, recently turning serious again.
