Old Road Narrowing Sought by Cass County Officials
At the June term Cass county commissioners will hear a petition to narrow Michigan road south of Logansport from 140 to 40 feet. Farmers along the route signed the petition and some have already moved fences inward. The four mile stretch would yield about 7.25 acres per mile and roughly 30 acres total, valued at about $3000. The state originally granted land for a 100 foot highway, with land still tied to the county. officials say the land remains the county’s, not the farmers.
