Colored man picked up here Sunday in murder case
A colored man reported sought in Indianapolis for the murder of John Murray was detained here Sunday afternoon after being found by officers. He gave the name Jerry Thomas from Tennessee and appeared to be in a poor condition. Indianapolis officers later identified the real suspect, who was 23, and surrendered himself.

Returned To Insane Asylum
Nolan Goodner, once at large in Sheridan after three months there, was returned to the asylum for the insane Tuesday. Officials deemed him harmless and granted freedom before local authorities learned of petty thefts. He was taken into custody by night watch Henderson and held in jail until Indianapolis authorities arrived.

Contract Let For New Garage and Monument Works Building
The cement block building at Seventh and Main streets for J. T. Richardson’s garage and monument works has been let to Newby and Downs. Work began this week on a 7800 square foot structure measuring 65 by 120 feet with a self supporting roof and modern features. If weather stays favorable, completion is expected in four weeks.

Lightning Kills Two Cows Near Sheridan During Storm
A bolt struck a tree sheltering two cows belonging to C. B. Miller four miles northeast of Sheridan, killing them during a Tuesday afternoon rain storm. The wind also caused damage to oats and corn in several localities.

Automobile Turned Over Kills Peru Man Elton Shively
Elton Shively of Peru Indiana died after a car carrying him and two others rolled on the Ekin range line near East Union church. The crash at about 10 am left Carl Bitzner and L A McIntire badly injured though they escaped death. Shively died at Dr Ross's office at 11. Shively, 44, was founder of Bears Hotel and father of two, formerly of Sheridan.

Man Dead Of Apoplexy In Sheridan
George Sherley, 68, resident of the south part of Sheridan, died suddenly Monday of apoplexy while working on the concrete road. He was healthy in the morning and collapsed at work, died soon after at home. Funeral at Friends church Wednesday with burial at Crown View cemetery led by Rev. Stafford.

Two Good Farms Sold in Sheridan and Lebanon Areas
Cox and Cooper report two farm sales this week. George Little sold 74 acres northwest of Sheridan to Ora Graham for 18320 dollars. Mrs. Little bought 160 acres north of Lebanon from A G Anderson at 175 dollars per acre. Possession set for March first. A Range Line road meeting for State Highway system is scheduled for Monday night at 8 PM at the Library.
