The Symons drain in the southeast part of town was rejected by remonstrators per Jude Cloe on Friday. The petition had 184 names and the remonstrance 186, with small reductions at the hearing. Petitioners argued the current drain is inadequate for needs.

Paul Williams Dies in England at 21
Telegram reports the death of Paul Williams 21 in England from pneumonia. He was a mechanician in the aviation corps who enlisted in Bakersfield California and served since last fall. The Williams family now lives in Casper Wyoming where W Williams is employed as a driller. He is the grandson of Ed Thistlethwaite of this place.

Three Hibschool Teachers Selected to Fill Vacancies

Garfield Davis died at his Sheridan home early Wednesday from dropsy after several weeks of illness. He was about forty, and leaves a wife and six children.

Auto collision on county line due to obstructing tall corn
A tall corn field obscured the crossing view causing a collision Sunday evening on the county line near Sheridan. Hal Brown of Frankfort driving a Pathfinder Twin Six hit a Saxon roadster with Lowell Hillock and Henry Gipson, demolishing the smaller car. Gipson suffered minor scratches. Hillock and Gipson were thrown against barbed wire. The Frankfort car had a broken axle and damaged fender. The collision occurred at the new cement crossing. fence damage reported.
