Circuit Court Adjourns for Summer Vacation in Noblesville

The circuit court adjourned for the summer on Tuesday after hearing James M. Cook report as receiver for Madison Brooke estate. Dockets included several motions, drops, compromises, and a will probate for John H. Harvey, detailing an eighty acre Westfield area bequest to Dessie Moffitt and a life interest to her and then to her children.

John H Harvey, 61, Dies After Illness

John A Harvey, commissioner of the Second district, died at his Washington township home Friday night after a stroke in January and a second stroke on July 4. He lived his life on the family farm, his wife having died two years earlier. Funeral held at Carmel Sunday.

First loads of the new oats crop reached local elevators on Wednesday. Quality is high and yields are low with reports from 23 to 41 bushels per acre. Early oats mainly from northwest of Sheridan and Clinton County. Price started at 29 cents.

Obituary of Mrs. T. J. Foutch of Sheridan

Mrs. T. J. Foutch, who lived north of Sheridan, died Wednesday afternoon of heart trouble after a long illness. She was 70 years old and survived by a husband and four children.

Wheeler Named for Assessor's Office

A. B. Wheeler of Adams township was the unanimous choice of the Republican central committee for county assessor to replace Jarkin Lee who resigned for eligibility reasons. Wheeler, not a candidate before, thanked the committee and pledged to serve efficiently if elected in November. The committee also filled county councilmen and hospital trustees posts with W. F. Sugar Corn Suffering From Hot Dry Weather

H M Dunham the Sheridan Packing Company manager reports hot dry weather is cutting sugar corn yield. He estimates the 300 acres planted for packing could produce 8 000 to 10 000 cases instead of the usual 18 000. Tomatoes tolerate the drought and may yield normally if rain comes, while peas also fared poorly nationwide.
