Both had lived in Sheridan and could not return to the US. Also notices seek cross cut saw filers and entrainment to Vancouver Washington July 29. Court actions include Ethel Kesler transfer to Orphans Home and Crouch Co v Richardson & Newman with a divorce suit by Ralph Sapper against Elsie Sapper.

The Indiana Condensed Milk Co has employed Mr Nola Boyer to oversee field work at the Sheridan plant. He is well qualified, having lived on a farm and been a longtime patron, and he completed a dairying course at Purdue. He has also taught Agriculture in Dams Township High School for five years.

Churches Arrange August Sunday Evening Union Services
Churches plan to hold joint Sunday evening services during August with one service at each church. The union aims to promote fellowship among congregations and unity. One service will be addressed by a guest speaker.
Battery D Disbanded in Noblesville
Battery D of the Second Indiana Field Artillery, recruited from Hamilton County last fall, was disbanded Monday night in Noblesville and each member received discharge. The unit, formed with strong local support, failed to enter Federal service despite efforts by the Governor and other leaders. Some members had already withdrawn to join other units.

Entrainment to Camp Taylor for sixty four Hamilton youths
Hamilton county will send sixty four young men to Camp Taylor next Tuesday. They will depart Noblesville with four alternates chosen by the conscription board to fill any vacancies.

War Notes From Home Front Promoted Soldier at Ft Bliss
Mr and Mrs S M Ridgeway of 217 BE Second St report their son Harry stationed at Ft Bliss Texas has been promoted to First Class private with higher pay. Among eleven Hamilton county men at Ft Bliss he is the first to receive a promotion. Paul Parr of Camp Sherman Chillicothe hospitalized after abdominal surgery. Rev McPheeters former Mr E Waster and Benezett Wilson are among Sheridan contingent there. John Foster Leon Boulden Noel Davis and Jesse Quick went to Indianapolis to seek enlistment in Uncle Sam fighting units. The first three await navy call. Quick will drive a large tank. They may be called up later.

Pastor Waits for Chaplain Post as Camp Taylor Duty Calls
Rev. J. F. Edwards, pastor of the M. E. church, received a telegram Tuesday to report to Camp Taylor as chaplain after pursuing the post through Camp Taylor and Washington, D. C. but failing due to routine delays. The church will seek a successor as two steps toward a new pastor are postponed. Dr. Hetherington, Dr. Ross, and Dr. Herron depart for Ft. Oglethorpe to join the veterinary department. Jack Stotler, previously at Long hospital, Indianapolis, has been discharged uncured.

Hamilton County Man Killed by Inter Urban
John Achenbach farmer from near Ekin and his seven year old son were struck by an inter urban car at Cox crossing south of Tipton. Achenbach, 62, died. son was seriously injured. Witnesses say the man did not see the oncoming car as the track appeared clear for miles. The family includes a wife and six children.

Petition to reconstruct Symons drain argued in Noblesville
Sheridan residents attended the Noblesville hearing before Judge Cloe on a petition to enlarge the Symons drain to cover the area of the old, undersized conduit built twenty five years ago. The Indiana Condensed Milk Company uses the drain heavily. Remonstrators expect the court to rule in their favor due to the large number of opponents.

Early Trains Now Stop for Sheridan Traffic
Passenger trains No 55 and 36 now stop in Sheridan at 1 52 and 6 07 A M respectively aiding Sheridan traffic. Tickets for No 35 due south at 6 07 should be bought the evening before per Mr Good or fares paid on board. The north bound train helps late city arrivals.

New Wheat Arrives. Harvest Yields Reported
New wheat is arriving at local elevators this week though heavy rains hinder threshing. Quality tests show good grain selling at 2.08 to 2.10 per bushel. Yields range around 30 bushels per acre with some fields reaching 40. Abnormally large wheat acreage noted in the area.
Death at Bakers Corner
Mrs. John Hendrickson died at her home in Bakers Corner Monday morning of pneumonia after a brief illness. She was 69. A short funeral was held at the home Wednesday morning, and she was buried beside her husband in Spencer. Mrs. Joe Vogg of Bakers Corner is a daughter.

Team Starts Up Log Roll Over Man
Ora Freeman a 60 year old farmer from the township near Sheridan was badly injured Friday at Palmer lumber yards when a loose log rolled off a wagon and crushed him. He suffered a broken collar bone several ribs and severe injuries to the head and chest and lay unconscious before rallying. Freeman, with a son Reno in France, lived and worked the farm and was hauling logs for Palmer from Henry Spencer’s farm when the accident occurred.
