County Board of Review wraps five week session
The County Board of Review nearly finished after five weeks. It scheduled Noblesville hearings while noting minimal changes ahead. Adjustments across Adams Jackson Washington Clay Delaware Carm el and Arcadia followed proposed percentages on land and improvements. George Hamilton Civil War Vet Dies After Long Illness
George Hamilton longtime community resident died at his West Second Street home aged eighty four after seventeen months bedfast from a paralytic stroke. He served in the Civil War with the 101st Indiana then the 75th Indiana, worked in lumber and ran a Jolietville saw mill. Burial at Little Eagle cemetery. Survived by sisters Mrs. Anna Levi and Mrs. Jane Farwick.

Barker Home Struck by Lightning
During a severe rain storm lightning hit Arthur Barker’s South California street residence injuring his fourteen year old daughter Pauline and causing fire damage. The bolt burned a window casing and a box of matches while plastering and floor suffered. Insurance covers the loss. Lightning also damaged electric wires and telephone lines as crews worked into the night.

A party of seven Sheridan women staying at Dr J C Newby’s cottage near town left the site at two o clock Sunday after a man described as mean is said to have prowled about imitating a wild animal causing panic and prompting their early departure.

Osborn appeals county road fees to Hamilton Circuit Court
G W Osborn of Sheridan has appealed county commissioners fees as attorney in the Minesley concrete road case. He seeks one percent of the bond issue, about 480 dollars, for guiding the project from start to now. The $48 000 bond issue covers construction and related costs.

Nine local high school boys pass ROTC exam for Camp Knox training
Nine local high school boys heading to Camp Knox Kentucky to begin a six week ROTC training course received satisfactory physical examinations. They await entrainment for the months outing and will follow the ROTC boys who started training June 10th. One boy rode a 960 mile trip to visit relatives.

Monon Passenger Train Kills Local Man at Kirklin Crossing
John N Russell aged seventy seven driving a spring wagon on a Kirklin crossing was struck by Monon Train No 38 coming from the south and died instantly. The train crew tried to warn him but he did not hear. Russell leaves a widow three sons and two daughters in the community.

Sheridan ministers form township ministerial association
The Sheridan and Boxley ministers met at the Methodist parsonage and organized the Adams Township Ministerial Association. Rev. F. W. Stafford was elected president and Rev. C. A. McPheeters secretary. A resolutions committee included Revs G. W. Martin and D. C. Dooley. The group plans regular meetings and August union services.
