Noblesville Indiana July 7 1921 The County Council held a special meeting and approved several salary adjustments to conform with new laws. Bailiffs salaries were set and clerks reporters and surveyors updated. The Board of Review adjourned leaving assessment totals to Assessor Mosbaugh with expectations of a 200000 to 300000 property addition.
Two men named John Dean and M Hammond, both claiming Indianapolis addresses, were arrested by Marshal Fisher for gaming at the park. They ran an old dice game called Old Hi. Each was fined $1 with $9 costs. the marshal donated his fee share to the Legion. Two other Indianapolis men were ready to start another game but fled.
Miss Bessie Pritsch and Miss Lora Cline depart Sunday for a month in Denver Colorado to visit relatives of the Pritsch family.
The Sheridan Chautauqua culminates in a five day run starting July 17 with a long list of guarantors including Stanley and Beauchamp Couch and Stahl F G O Eudaly and Co J Ira Jones C T Amick J L Vickery C H Goff P S Johnson and others. A Friday meeting of Central States Life Insurance district agents was held at G. B. Teter's home in Hamilton County. All agents attended and heard T. L. Neal of Crawfordsville report stronger business with year to date premium writing exceeding any previous year.
A gasoline price war among local dealers pushes the current ruling price to a little over twenty cents, with gasoline at about nineteen cents plus a five percent evaporation. Rumors also speak of a price war for ice cream sodas dropping to eleven cents.
Mrs. Mahalia Burgess died Monday afternoon at six o'clock at the home of her niece Mrs. William Peirce in Hortonville. Age seventy seven, the cause listed as infirmities of old age. Formerly of Ohio she was buried at Westfield cemetery on Wednesday.

Weather this season spurs farming work as wheat harvest is in full swing along with oats and hay. Farms lack manpower making the triple crop task a substantial challenge for the community growers.
The funeral of William B. Pierce was conducted Saturday morning at the Sherman Pierce residence on Park avenue by Rev. Wolff. He died from a stroke of apoplexy and was buried at Crown View cemetery. Pierce was born in North Carolina and was 9 years, 10 months and 11 days old. His wife had died several years earlier.
Notice from Sheridan confirms the death of Mrs Milton Phelps in Portland Oregon last week. The family lived in Sheridan about twenty five years before moving to Indianapolis then west.
