Died At A Ripe Old Age Samuel Boyer
Samuel Boyer a well known farmer of the Pickard neighborhood died Monday morning in his 87th year. He expired after breakfast after a period of failing health. Born in Decatur county he was the son of Robert Boyer a War of 1812 veteran. He is survived by three sons Marshall Jacob and Thomas and daughter Mrs James Longfellow. His wife preceded him in death. He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery Wednesday.

Widow Angie Washburn Dies in Greenacres Far West
Relatives in this town are advised of the death of Mrs Angie Washburn at Greenacres Washington. She was about forty, only daughter of the late James Kercheval of the northeast area. Half brothers are Harry and Hiram Kercheval. She moved west about twenty years ago. No details of illness or death are known locally.

At the first meeting of the new town board Monday night F C Budaly holdover member was made president Rol Griffin was appointed town attorney and W F Fisher named as Marshal. The tenure of the Marshal's appointment is discretionary with the board Deputy Marshal A W Henderson was also reappointed for one month during which time a proposition to discontinue his services will be considered. The usual batch of bills were allowed.

Two Farm Sales Recording By Cox and Cooper
Cox and Cooper reported two farm sales this week. The Allen Linton forty one half mile north of Sheridan sold to William A. Johnson of the Deming neighborhood for 100 acres at 10000 dollars. A larger forty was priced at 16500 dollars. A fifty two acre Clinton county farm owned by Mrs Dan Boyer sold to James McKinney for 10000 dollars.

Local Resident J C Burton Dies After Long Illness
J C Burton former Sheridan resident died at his home on the corner of Ohio and Third street after a long illness. He was about 70, survived by a wife and four children, a sister Mrs C K Wilson of Elwood, and a brother Henry of Tipton. Funeral at the Christian church Friday afternoon with burial at Boxey.

Largest oat car shipped from Sheridan by local elevator
The Mendenhall-Weaver elevator sent the biggest car load of oats out of Sheridan last week. The car contained 3,130 bushels and was the first grain car handled by the McCardle & Black commission firm of Indianapolis. Mr McCardle, formerly from Terhune, now owns an elevator there. Lieut Kenneth Elliott of Charlotte NC is visiting for a short leave with his parents.

Home Guard Takes Oath of Allegiance and Forms Unit
Sheridan's Liberty guard was mustered into state service with seventy-eight enlistees for the war against the Central Empires. The unit, led by Captain H. H. Newby and officers, will be folded into Indiana militia for home protection and may be called within the state to quell riots or respond to catastrophe.
