Local Post Office To Be Refurbished For Ten Years

Uncle Sam accepts G. H. Palmer proposal to furnish a suitable room for the post office for ten years. Changes include new furniture fixtures a steam heating system painting and a general overhaul. Old lease expired January 8 new lease effective after government acceptance of the changes.

Flour Mills At Big Springs Ready for Business

A new flour mill at Big Springs is now ready for business with a capacity of twenty five barrels per day and feed grinding capacity to cover its needs. Proprietor and miller C C Barker brings past flour experience. The mill uses a new processing method and is built in Kentucky.

Advisory Board Holds Annual Township Meeting

The township trustee and Advisory Board met Tuesday to review the past year’s books. Zeno Davids was chosen to fill Ted McKinney’s term after McKinney moved to Tipton County.

Clark Colby of Sheridan Ralph Gregg and Garth Melson now of Indianapolis have formed the U S Income Tax Service Bureau with an office in room 509 Odd Fellows building Indianapolis. They will aid in filing income tax returns.

McDonald Buys Two Store Buildings for Materials Reuse

W. M. McDonald of route five has purchased the two buildings belonging to the First National Bank now occupied by Couch and Stahl and the Forsythe Electrical Shop. The buildings will be wrecked and material used in other construction work. The Electrical Shop plans to move to the room on south Main street recently vacated by W. W. Hughett.

Old Fashioned Basket Dinner Visit by Dr Paul

Dr John Paul will visit Sheridan on January 18 for a basket dinner hosted by the Methodist Church. He will speak on Christian Education highlighting Asbury College and later deliver an evangelistic message before revival services begin Wednesday night at 7 30.

The Public Service Commission of Indiana will hold a hearing on January 16 1920 at 10 30 a m at City Hall Sheridan Indiana on the petition of Central Indiana Telephone Company Sheridan for authority to increase rates.

Sheridan High School Beats Fairmount In Saturday Night Return

Sheridan high school split the weekend with Westfield in a Friday double header on their floor losing both games, then came back Saturday to defeat Fairmount academy 32 to 25. They travel to Shelbyville next for a game with Shelby County lads.

Elect Cutlery Officials Named At Annual Meeting

The Cutlery company held its annual stockholders meeting at the secretary M. L. Mendenhall’s office Monday. Officers elected were Theo Pettijohn as President T. L. Malott as First Vice President S. A. Hinshaw as Treasurer M. L. Mendenhall as Secretary. Directors chosen were Theo Pettijohn T. L. Malott S. A. Hinshaw Tol Collins Clark Colby D. F. Hutchens.

Farm House Burns on John Lohr Farm

A six room residence on the John Lohr farm south of Hortonville was destroyed by fire Friday night caused by a defective chimney. Mr and Mrs Lohr attempted to fight the blaze from the roof but were overcome by smoke. Some bedding and clothing were saved. The house and contents were insured for $900 with Hamilton County Mutual.

Funeral of Dr M O DeVaney Held Tuesday

The Indianapolis physician Dr M O DeVaney aged 39 died in a car accident near Fall Creek. He practiced medicine in Indianapolis, served with the American forces in World War I, and held posts with the City Dispensary, Marion County Workhouse, and Indianapolis Life Insurance Company. He left a widow Lulu Myers DeVaney and three children. Funeral services were held at home with burial at Crown Hill.

Dr James Dragoo Injured In Paducah Plane Crash

Dr James A Dragoo and a companion were forced from their aircraft when it crashed into a tree near Paducah Kentucky on Thursday The doctor suffered a broken leg and multiple bruises while the other occupant had lesser injuries The plane owned by a Connersville company was wrecked Mrs Dragoo rushed to Paducah after news of the accident

Two sets of sale catalogues released by News Job Office. Wiles & Wright list fifty head of Big Type brood sows in a thirty six page catalog of one thousand copies while Jess Goodnight mails fifteen hundred copies of a twenty eight page catalog for his Spotted Poland brood sows sale at Tipton on Saturday January 24. The Wiles & Wright sale will be at Sheridan. Larkin Lee of Clay township named county Highway Superintendent succeeding Oscar Guilkey.
