Death of Mrs Amanda Catherine Thurman at home
Mrs Amanda Catherine Thurman died Friday night at her home at Tenth and Georgia streets from pneumonia. She was 69. Funeral services were held Monday at the residence by Rev. Mc Pheeters. Burial followed at Crown View cemetery. Survived by her husband Thomas Thurman three sons and one daughter.

Oyster Supper Spurs Ongoing Degree Work at Red Men's Lodge
Degree work at the Red Men lodge will continue through spring after a December oyster supper drew over thirty candidates. R R Williamson, Great Guard of the Wigwam, presided. W A Morris of Frankfort, Great Junior Sagamore, gave the main address. R S Baker of Sheridan, Great Keeper of Wampum, was another state officer present. The supper earned high praise for the committees.

Hunting season closing dates and rabbit season notice
Hunters have roamed fields for weeks now with game laws expiring Monday except rabbits which expire next Tuesday. The closed season on all wild game continues to April first when rabbit shooting resumes. After that, rabbit meat is not generally in demand.

Local trappers hurt by Russian furs market slide
Local trappers report a slump in fur prices after a shipment of Russian skins arrived in the United States. Skins dropped from about 1.70 to 1.60 top price, with many dealers buying elsewhere. War years boosted trapping then prices fell. drought and floods hurt trapping, and Cicero creek dredging damaged hunting grounds. Active trapping ends around February first.
