May Increase County Tax Levy in 1922 Draft
Noblesville deputy auditor C C White prepared for the County Council a 1922 budget showing total county government cost at about 115000, up from 108000 in 1921. He recommends raising the total levy from 30 to 38 cents per 100, with gravel road levy up from 15 to 20 cents and hospital levy from 2.5 to 3 cents, as well as new levies to redeem gravel road bonds in 1922.

Indiana Condensed Milk Plant Lands Export Order
The Indiana Condensed Milk Company received an export order for 40,000 cases or 4,000,000 pounds of milk for two months. Shipments go to Hamburg Germany for commercial and relief work. Officials anticipate another export order for Russian relief. Since January 1 purchases reached 23,858,526 pounds costing $448,389 with monthly output around 3,000,000 pounds.

Prize Calf Wins Big at Dairy Picnics Across States
A prize calf gifted at the Sheridan Dairy Picnic in 1919 to a 14 21 year old cattle judge Lafne Pickett of Arcadia Indiana later sold to L B Wright who showed her at Lebannon Dairy Picnic securing first in two year old and sweepstakes cow class. The 850 pound heifer is lauded as a promising cow as she approaches milking season. All dams tested and listed in the herd register with butterfat records ranging 400 to 700.

Sudden Death of Clyde A McCardle in Detroit Hospital
Clyde A McCardle of Indianapolis died unexpectedly in a Detroit hospital Thursday night from heart trouble. He was 41, survived by a wife and two adopted children, with burial at Crown Hill. He had been in ill health months and had written of returning home before collapsing while playing cards in a hospital bathroom. His parents, John W and the late Mrs McCardle, lived in Indianapolis where he chaired the State Public Service Commission. He also ran McCardle Grain at Terhune and belonged to the McCardle-Black Grain Commission house of Indianapolis.

The Hamilton County Hampshire pig club show will be held at Sheri dan Saturday afternoon, Augst 27, at 2 30 o clock. Eight boys and girls will show the pigs. Prizes of 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 and 3 will be offered. Bert Lane of Delphi will do the judging. The show will be held in the vacant lot on the corner of Main and Fourth streets. The people of this community are invited to look this bunch of gifts over as they are typical Hampshires.

Car Runs Off Embankment On Tenth Street
Ford touring car owned by Wm Shull of east Sheridan ran off an embankment on a Sunday afternoon. The vehicle overturned pinning Mrs Henry Shull and two children John Hudson and Miss Altha Hilser of Kokomo under the car. Oral Wiles drove. None seriously injured. top and windshield broken.

Fatal Collision on Noblesville Road in Indiana
An early Sunday crash on the Noblesville road near the Madison Hamilton county line left Mrs. Viola Bailey and her two year old child dead and six others injured. Paul Lanham of Sheridan sustained serious injuries and Commodore Markle of Markleville was in a crash with Charles V Trotter of Elwood driving when two cars collided at speed obscured by tall corn. Trotter and Mrs. Trotter were injured and Herschel Bailey suffered fractured ribs. Lanham faces a $5000 bond while officials determine fault under state right of way law.

Tall Corn Contest At Wood's Seed Store Crowns Thomas Tudor
Wide interest marked the tall corn contest held at Wood's Seed Store on Saturday. About twenty five contestants entered with Thomas Tudor of Boone County winning first prize for a 16 feet 6 and a half inch stalk. Paul Staley and Ossie Lovell tied for second with 16 feet 6 and 1/4 inches. One entry reached 13 feet tall and bore five ears.

A sale held at the C. E. Gumery farm near Rosston sold 37 head of Big Types. The lot included 10 spring gilts 9 fall gilts 10 bred sows and 8 open sows. Top price was 90 dollars for a bred sow with an overall average of 43 50. A large crowd attended and most offerings went to local breeders and farmers.
