The Republican primary on Sunday produced votes for trustees in the first and second wards and for treasurer and marshal with several contests. Fred Alexander may receive a militia appointment. Sheridan citizens push to locate a new cemetery near town to replace the distant Spencer cemetery.
A Sheridan Democratic convention struggled to fill town offices as names shifted after a committee rushed the ticket to filing. J. S. Carter, a defeated Republican candidate, appeared on the ticket. a later move removed him, and Winarrow was added for treasurer. A separate anecdote recalls a young man chased by a dog and leaping into a buggy to escape.

In circuit court on Monday the claim case of Jasper Moore as administrator of Joseph Keen’s estate against William Tiarrison as administrator of Abigail Harrison’s estate, valued around 500, was compromised. The plaintiff received 112 dollars in cash, and the defendant must pay all costs. The compromise also calls for withdrawal of the Joseph Green will case on appeal and settlement of litigation costs.
