New Laws In Force After Fast Promulgation
Deputy Secretary Frank I Grubbs pushed the legislature acts into print ahead of expectations with a Wednesday proclamation. The two cent fare law goes into effect soon cutting rail passenger costs. private banking law starts now. public depositories act begins December first.

GAR FARE DOWN ONE THIRD
The new two cent railroad rate law took effect Thursday morning, applying a straight fee for all intrastate trips. Interstate traffic remains excluded. Sheridan to Indianapolis fares drop from 85 cents one way or 1.55 round trip to about 56 cents one way. No Sunday travel orders reported. likely raised to 2 cents for intrastate trips.

M. E. Conference to Hear Appointments Later
Rev J A Sumwalt leaves for Logansport to attend the sixty fourth annual North Indiana M E Conference open for one week. The session opened with roll call by Bishop W F McDowell. Rev W M Nelson, former Sheridan pastor, preached in the afternoon with an address by Dr Hughes of Depauw. Appointments will be made on the final day, and Sumwalt is expected to be returned.

Another Weigher Appointed From Adams Township
Chas. Fouch was notified Tuesday of his appointment as mail weigher. His run will be between Sandusky, Ohio and Peoria, Illinois on the Lake Erie and Western Railway. He is expected to report at Detroit, Michigan at once. This is the fifth appointment from this township within the past sixty days.

Disputed Sun Shine wreck case in Noblesville court
Nelson F. Scribner administrator of Lord H. Whitson estate sues Indiana Sunshine Union Traction for 10000 damages over the Broad Ripple sunken steamer Sun Shine in White River. He claims faulty construction in overloaded vessel and management by inexperienced crews. The company owned the steamer and Broad Ripple Park at the time.

The Annual Institute of the Hamilton County W C T U met at the Friends church in Noblesville on Monday and Tuesday. State worker Mrs. Rose Pierce led sessions urging temperance zeal and Holy Spirit guidance. Mrs. Margaret Cox of Westfield spoke on the Hadley Industrial School and urged local unions to support it. A Medal Contest occurred at the First Methodist church, with visiting members hosted by Dr and Mrs Newlin. The event aimed to make Hamilton the banner county this week.

Post Office at Boxley to Close After April 30
An order from post office authorities states the Boxley office will be discontinued after April 30. Patrons will receive service from carrier 22 out of Sheridan, a change many had anticipated by installing boxes. The route, once among the largest from the local office, will be strengthened as the banner route by family count and mail volume.

Arc lights return after long outage
After months with lights off due to cost the arc lights were turned on Monday night. Wires had been unused and damaged by sleet making restoration hard. The new engine handles the load. other machinery runs more steadily.

Rules state rates: business rooms 6c per kW hour. residence and office 10c per kW hour. Discounts apply: 20 percent if paid by the 5th for residence and office. 16 percent for business rooms.
