Ten dollars in gold given away on the first day of each month. A free ticket with every 50 cent purchase at Gox and Rickard's Shoe Store invites customers to buy Easter, work, or any shoes at prices lower than the lowest.
The Hamilton circuit court opened its April term with 284 cases on the docket split into civil 192 criminal 72 and claims 20. The day focused on issuing, setting trials and related tasks. Notable action includes a demurrer in State W T U vs Cox et al and a sensational damage suit filed in Tipton circuit court by Beula Palmer vs A L Joyce seeking 10000. Jurors for the term were named and a March recorder report highlighted deeds mortgages mechanics liens.
Indiana school enumerators started work statewide with a twenty day window. Trustees oversee townships while cities appoint a special commission. Do not confuse enumerators with assessors as secrecy matters. They list children aged six to twenty one to distribute school funds. More children mean more funds. enumeration does not affect taxes. Public profit comes from reporting all eligible children.

About fifty members from Fidelity Lodge F. and A. M. traveled to Indianapolis Tuesday evening in response to Oriental Lodge No. 500 invitation. The banquet featured as usual, with visiting brethren royally entertained. The Indianapolis lodge was hosted here three years ago.
Jacob Pritsch, 70 plus, visiting his father laid up with a broken leg, was thrown from a buggy after his horse was frightened by an automobile in Sedalia Sunday. The incident occurred as he drove the horse near his father’s home.
Governor Marshall designates Friday April 30 and Friday October 29 as Arbor Days in Indiana and urges citizens to plant trees and shrubs to beautify the land in coming years.
The Sheridan Canning company advances toward June 1 as the pea season opens. Tomato and pea acreage is secured, most of the corn crop contracted, seven buildings rising, machinery installed, and officers and directors, all but Mr. Harris, visiting the plant as construction continues.
The Alumni Musical program at the K P hall Wednesday evening drew a highly appreciative audience with every number well received. Prof M J Shiel’s clarinet solos were praised as choice selections and ably performed. The affair was financially successful and the Alumni Association praises the patronage given.
Mr and Mrs Charles Martin entertained at dinner Sunday with Prof and Mrs E J Llewelyn Prof T L Harris Mr Shiel and Miss Harriet Ward to meet Miss Maude Cosler of Kokomo. Mr and Mrs Samuel Barker Jas Parsons and family Miss Halcie Remsen and Mr and Mrs Hines of Plainfield dined with A O Braggs and family. Mr and Mrs Peter Schmitz of Indianapolis spent Thursday night and Friday with H A Budaley and family and Miss Lena accompanied them home.

Ernest Reece A J Erp and wife and Miss Zulu McMath of Deming dined with Clarence Erp and family. Elsie Hanson of Westfield and Mrs Lydia Camine of Greenfield visited 8 A Royster and family. Martha Johns and Frankie Brown and son visited W D McGuire and family at Zionsville. M Foulke and family attended Quarterly meeting at Deming and dined with James Perry and family.
Mr and Mrs H B Jonson relocate from Atlanta to Richmond where he serves as superintendent in charge of a large sewer construction project. They expect to stay about a year.
The sixty sixth annual session in Greenfield issued ministerial appointments with W H Brightmire to Sheridan and Cain to Gas City. Sheridan alums J A Sumwalt Elwood W D Parr Kokomo W M Nelson Richmond W M Hutchens and David Wells listed. County placements include J W Kerr at Atlanta Aroma J F Cottingham Boxley J R Godwin Cicero Arcadia B E Jones Jolietville L A Beck H Webster Noblesville E J Magor Westfield. Next conference to meet Bluffton.
S H Timmons resigns as town marshal after fifteen years. Charles Russell elected and qualified to replace him, having previously held the post. Board approves bills including Timmons salary and various small charges. Trustee Laughlin absent due to sickness.
Governor will likely sign the proclamation putting 1909 laws into effect this Saturday. County clerks’ receipt acknowledgments are nearly all with the secretary of state. The final batch of 1909 acts was delivered Monday to Leonard M Quill, Marion county clerk.
Mrs. Carrie Murry Nellie Plew and Waunelta Jessup of Indiana shared a Sunday dinner at the G W Drake home in town.
