Sergeant Hubert S. Farmer of Toledo Ohio faces two murder charges under the 92d Article of War after an attack at night on three soldiers at the post. Tech. Sgt. Robert C. Campbell and Sgt. Julius A. NCO Dance Chairman Named For November Ball
Sergeant Pastory named chairman for the non-commissioned officers dance to be held November 20 at an undisclosed location. Music will be Stan Kenton and his orchestra. The Kenton group also plans a post-wide program on the 19th in The Theater. The first big October dance inspired a larger, more elaborate upcoming event. Naval hero Dr. Croydon M. Wassell, famed for Java deeds in 1942 and the subject of a Gary Cooper film, is scheduled to address post personnel at Sheppard Field on December 2 in a large hangar. Born in Little Rock, he trained at the University of Arkansas, joined the Naval Reserve Medical Corps in 1924, and rose to lieutenant commander by 1939.

Col Alfred L Jewett returned to Sheppard Field to assume command, becoming the post’s fifth CO. He previously led Gulfport and Truax Fields and served as executive officer here in 1941 42. Born 1890 in Waltham Mass he was a civil engineer geologist and newspaperman before a long Air Corps career and now plans to reside in Wichita Falls with Mrs Jewett.
