Thirty men discussed Compulsory Military Training last Monday night highlighting the project’s broad impact. Post Provides Tablets For GI Consumption
Post orders squadrons to supply salt tablets to prevent heat exhaustion. Two tablets per canteen water and with each meal, plus extra salting of foods during hot weather. Commanding officers to ensure all men are informed and have access to tablets at the station.
Correct Address Urged By 78th Postal Officer
Coinciding with new mail call schedules, 2d Lt. Ernest G. Sehlanbusch urged correct return addresses for 78th personnel. Mail must show name rank serial number and 78th AAFBU Sheppard Field Texas to avoid delays. New schedules: EM weekdays 1230 to 1630 Saturdays 1230 to 1430 Sundays 1230 to 1330.

GI Private Hits Jackpot After 60 Days in Army
Pvt Homer K. Steinert of Squadron I received two hundred dollars mustering out pay after 60 days on active duty. Enlisted July 8, 1944 and called to active duty April 6, 1945 at Fort Lewis Washington, he trained at Sheppard Field and Reed College before discharge. He plans to return to school and use the GI Bill of Rights.

Returnee Pilots May Apply For Civil Jobs
Returnee pilots who completed a tour in an overseas combat theater and meet qualifications may apply for release from active duty to work with civil airlines. Civil airlines, rated essential, seek qualified flyers for added aircraft. Eligible officers on stateside duty six months after returning may be released for employment with a specific airline. Applications go through channels to the Commanding General, AAF, Washington, D C. After securing a position, the applicant may request release.
