Apples Move Fast as Orchard Crop Nears Peak
Apples are moving quickly with the small orchard crop nearly picked in a week or two. Demand is good and prices rise to 38.00 per barrel for Rome Beauties, 60 for Forks and Ben Davises. Growers sell in bulk at about 2.80 per hundred, saving sorting and packing costs. The scene notes evaporating preserving plants and balks stored for October 5 at Chartes Town, W. Va. A.
