Wild Goose Chase Ends With Watch Missing and Wasted Night
A Williamsport blacksmith James M. Myers had his Sunday suit pressed by Mack Hopewell's shop. A color worker Dick Keys delivered the clothing, but the watch and spectacles vanished. Lawmen chased a canalboat and tracked Dick to Williamsport, only to find the watch remained with its owner. The case ends with unresolved blame and a long investigation.

Wedding Betts and Other Local Marriages Shake Up Shepherdstown
A quiet wedding occurred in New York City when Divi Hamme Hill, once of Shepherdstown, married Elizabeth M Tracy of Brooklyn at the Church of the Transfiguration. The couple planned a trip along the St. Lawrence and will reside in New York City. Nearby, Miss Julia Grantham and Mr. George Shirley wed in Middleway, and Miss Ethel Lee Dick tied with Jasper Myers at Jones's Spring. Other local unions include Miss Pearl Imbach and Charles H Miller in Washington, and John S. Mullenix with Nellie Barr in Hagerstown. Harry Simpson, a known figure in Berkeley and Jefferson counties, is jailed in Martinsburg accused of an attempted assault on eight-year-old Mabel Abel, with further troubling admissions reported.
