Sink holes swallow horse and other local notices

Sixx Hoves reports sink holes found on farms with a horse missing after August 25, later recovered head up in a 11 foot hole. In Berkeley County a calf and milked cow, and a bacon theft are noted. A flood of small items includes a child left at an alms house, a captain’s engineers survey, and a public dinner for the Lee Memorial Association raising near $800. A street accident injures several, with a fine against the careless rider. Berkeley and Martinsburg items cover court notes, tournaments, and local political commentary.
