Wealthy New York City woman Miss C. J. Welton perished during a sudden snow storm while descending Long's Peak Colorado. She had toured Colorado Springs Estes Park and Mike's Peak, hired a nineteen year old guide’s son for the ascent, and in retreat became chilled and died after being left to seek aid seven miles away.
