Supreme Court Upholds Change of Venue for Keeney Trial
The State Supreme Court on Tuesday approved a change of venue for the trial of United Mine Workers District President C Frank Keeney on an accessory to murder charge. It refused a writ of prohibition against Circuit Judge M Woods. The court ruled changes of venue to assure a fair trial are permissible and rejected the prosecution’s argument that unlimited changes would stall justice. The decision did not rule on Judge Woods action in Jefferson county. Additional notes mention J William Kline in Walter Reed, Senator Byrd eyed as Virginia governor candidate, and Harry M Shaw erecting a Camp Hill home.
