Special Communication of Mt Nebo Lodge A F and A M in Shepherdstown on May 10 1868 adopted a Preamble and Resolutions mourning JOAN P HOFFMAN a War den and trusted brother. The resolutions express sympathy to his family and note burial mourning for thirty days, with a copy to the family and publication in Shepherdstown Register. Also notes a boy badly injured by a B&O coal train and a meeting of the Order of Good Templars in Morfinsburg addressed by Dr A Crane.

John P Hoffman aged 45 died at his residence on Saturday night and was buried at Elkwood Cemetery with Mount Nebo Lodge and Caledonia Lodge providing rites.
