Murder trial details fill county court docket
The August trial in the county courthouse featured Wilburn and co defendants, with defense attorneys James M W Houston and T C tol Forrest W Brown representing the accused. Jury deliberations stretched through a long day ending in a guilty verdict on a murder charge at a high level of proof, while motions and voir dire affidavits arose over juror statements and fear of intimidation. Exciting Narrow Escape On Bridge Incident At Shepherdstoan
Last Saturday evening at about seven a frightening accident occurred on a railroad bridge near Shepherdstoan. Two young women, including Miss Ricamore, were walking the rail when a fast freight train appeared on the curve. The engineer shouted danger and braked but could not stop in time. Two college students rushed to assist, pulling Miss Ricamore to safety as the train thundered past within a hairbreadth of her. She escaped with cuts and bruises, while bystanders were shaken by the near-miss onlookers report.
