Stonewall Jackson Lauded In Poetic Tribute And Remarkable Young Miner
The piece blends a patriotic poem celebrating Stonewall Jackson with a dramatic tale of Roy Fitts, a New York boy who at sixteen becomes a Colorado mining millionaire after discovering a massive mica deposit in Guffey. It recounts his stake claims in his mother's name, hires miners to prove them, and underscores the mountain’s vast mica value, plus notes on mining laws and the wider context of mica demand and uses.
