Shenandoah Valley Heritage and Early Jefferson County
A long narrative sketch surveys Jefferson and Berkeley counties in Virginia now West Virginia, tracing colonial estates, churches, and notable families. It recalls Caledonia, Piedmont, St George's Chapel, Morgantown and Shepherdstown, James Rumsey's steamboat, and connections to Washington, Briscoe, and Hite lineages, with anecdotal vignettes of local landmarks and pioneers.
