A detailed account of lampreys building nests in shallow streams feeding into the sea. They move and lift pebbles with their mouths, butt large stones, and form nests about three feet wide. Eggs resemble sand grains, hatch in about two weeks, and young lampreys migrate to the sea before returning to fresh water to nest.
