Diary of a California Gold Seekers Journey West
A long diary fragment recounts the arduous 1840s overland trek from St Joseph Missouri to San Francisco. It details thirsting deserts, scorching heat, scarce provisions, river crossings, and a fatal accident as the Donor party nears the Sierra Nevada. It notes a Virginia born narrator, a joint stock company voyage, and hopes of returning home.
