In Noblesville Indiana the defense in the Oberholtzer murder case rested before noon without calling Stephenson or two henchmen. They aimed to impeach Indianapolis experts by presenting Noblesville doctors. Dr J D Sturdevant said acute nephritis may be caused by alcohol, while state doctors linked nephritis to mercury poison. The doctor denied offering to testify for Stephen son.
In Littleton Colorado defense lawyers for Dr Harold K E Blazer in the murder trial of his mentally impaired daughter deny aiming to prove she had no soul. District Attorney Joel Stone accuses the defense of advancing that claim as a tactic while experts testify Blazer could not distinguish right from wrong at the time of the killing. The judge told jurors to disregard those arguments as proceedings continue.
Mrs Henry Gruebner 62 died at 9 30 this morning at the family home on Wilgus road after an illness of nearly a year. Born Anne Knauf in Mosel January 5 1863 she was married to Henry Gruebner deputy conservation commissioner forty one years ago. Survivors include her husband three daughters Mrs H R Dahl Amberg Mrs A B Focus Lansing and Mrs Helen Gruebner at home one granddaughter and brother Joseph Knauf Home for the Aged. Funeral services set for Thursday afternoon by Rev Paul Groashuesch with details not announced.
United Press reports a sizable earthquake detected in the Far West with vibrations first noted at 7 46 and late morning readings around 8 68 by Fr A W Forstall in Denver. The seismograph at College monitors described the disturbance as distant and likely not near its source.
A patriotic Armistice Day program will be presented at the high school Wednesday at 8 p m. Sheboygan men will speak and the high school band will perform as the city honors those who served in World War I and especially those who died for democracy under Wolf-Onion Post 11230 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Washington briefs describe Armistice Day activities to observe at 11 a m tomorrow with a municipal halt of business for several minutes. Mayor Larson and Sheboygan Press editor E Broughton will speak. The program includes singing, a school band, a flag salute, bugler taps and the Bell spangled Banner. Governor Blaine’s Armistice Day proclamation urges renewed dedication to democracy liberty and civil rights.
A will directs acts to bring joy to disabled children in Minnesota with clowns toys flowers and entertainers visiting hospital beds. Edweed Z. Matt left as an unnamed infant at a city hospital 37 years ago and died Monday after a life lived quietly. He left $36,000 in trust to aid others similarly afflicted.
