Gas Explosions Endanger Lives At Nash Garage
Fire at the Nash company garage on Twelfth Street and Ana Avenue caused two explosions and widespread damage. A barrel of reducer, flammable liquids, and paint materials ignited, blowing out second floor windows and scorching nearby Nash sedans. Firefighters, arriving from Standard Station, battled flames with water streams, chemical tanks, and inner access, saving several cars while estimating total damage at about 15 000 dollars insured. A lieutenant was injured by a fall while rescuing a car from the roof. the incident damaged eighteen cars and required roof replacement estimated around eight thousand dollars.
