Brooklyn authorities pursued motive in the slaying of Edna Howe 34 an attractive widow killed in her sun parlor. George L Taylor 40 an electrical engineer confessed a quarrel but denied stabbing her. Harry Lukey a roomer claimed Taylor returned from a cinema outing with Mrs Howe and argued. Lukey said Taylor seized a potato knife in the kitchen and reentered the sun parlor. Mrs Howe cried dont stab me George and died soon after. Three Yowes children 9 dna 6 and 3 slept upstairs.
Jasper Luitze’s car stalled on railroad tracks in Kenosha Wisconsin yesterday. He jumped clear just before a tram struck and demolished the vehicle, sparing him from injury. The incident highlights a near-miss on busy lines and remains under investigation.
Louis I Pentzien a former Sheboygan building contractor is under arrest in Kansas City Missouri on a warrant issued January 28 in Sheboygan for embezzlement. Kansas City police gathered the fugitive, extradition steps underway, with a June fugitive hearing set and District Attorney Range pursuing return to Sheboygan for trial.
Chicago police identify Jimmy Coyne, a beer hustler for Red Bolton’s bootleg liquor dispensary, as the killer of Detective Joseph Sullivan in a West Side saloon. Witnesses link Coyne to the hand to hand fight and multiple gunshots. Bolton and several others are held, Bolton facing murder charges. Detective Sullivan sought information on a kidnapping and the killing of Detective Ray Martin before the fatal confrontation.
Judge Edward Voigt announced a settlement in the Anna Wickmann versus Wisconsin Power and Light case shortly before the defense began testimony. The accord was reached by the attorneys just prior to the defense presenting evidence.

Spokane police and a large crowd hunted a gunman who wounded William J. Johnson, 29, an electrician, and attacked Hazel Huller, 28. They were tied with copper wire, chloroformed, and left in a burning car on the Inland Empire highway. Both victims were in critical condition, with Johnson possibly fatally injured. Huller escaped and alerted authorities. Continuous coverage follows on page 18.
Two men were injured, one critically, when a barn explosion destroyed an 80 by 30 foot structure at Ed Ehrenbeck’s farm one half mile west of St Ann. Injured are E C Luecke and Arthur Tennant, the latter gravely hurt. The doctors refused to comment. Rumors say a 250 gallon still exploded. the barn had been refurbished for stronger beverages. Both men are reported to survive.
Charles W Fish, a Wisconsin lumberman and former owner of Fish Lumber Co, sues Central Trust Co of Chicago claiming breach of contract. He seeks 1.5 million dollars, alleging the bank failed to advance 150000 cash in exchange for control of his stock, triggering bankruptcy and wiping out the company’s value. The suit notes his stock was worth 1.5 million at deposit but became worthless after bankruptcy. Central Trust has merged with Bank of America.
Miss Celia Nelesen aged 15 daughter of Mi and Mrs Albert Nelesen Route 2 N Twenty first Street died at St Nicholas hospital at 2am today from burns received yesterday afternoon when kerosene used to start a kitchen fire at her aunt Mrs Joseph Kaufmanns home ignited and set her clothes afire She remained conscious for hours but doctors bore no hope for recovery noting disfigurement and possible lifelong crippled condition due to burns She told neighbors of the fire as she was being taken to hospital.
The Jack Rabbit Stage Lines Inc started running two daily northbound and two southbound coaches through Sheboygan on the Lakeshore route with terminals at Chicago and Menominee Midh. Northbound departures from Chicago are at 10 am and 9 pm, reaching Sheboygan in 2:55 pm and 3 am, with the 10 am train continuing to Green Bay.
