Milwaulkee Hotelier Buys Milwaukie Schandein Residence

Fred L Herwig owner of the Hotel Davidson and Fountain Inn Milwaukie has purchased the Schandein homestead in Milwaukie for about 1000. The four story brick home built twenty five years ago cost 490000 and sits on a block bounded by Twenty fourth and Twenty fifth streets Grand avenue and Wells street. Herwig plans to remodel it into a family hotel though no specific improvements are yet decided. He is a prominent Milwaukee hotel man and the community wishes him success in his new venture.

Pfister seeks donor designations by phone or letter for relief fund

Happy Jack Mulraney Dies in Sing Sing Execution

John Mulraney known as Happy Jack was electrocuted at Sing Sing for the 1911 murder of Patrick McGreen Paddy the priest a saloon keeper. He claimed death as a martyr despite repudiating his confession and noted a refused trial. He bade inmates a cheerful farewell as Charles Becker replied from the death cells.

Herman Schoneboom of 1202 Alabama avenue received a telegram from Galveston announcing that his son John H Schoneboom private in Company L Seventh Infantry was drowned in the Gulf of Mexico last night. Doctor killed by train near Campbellsport Fond du Lac Wis

Dr M A T A Toffman age 34 and son of pioneer Dr P A Toffman was killed when his auto was struck by a southbound train at the G N W crossing north of Campbellsport. His six year old daughter Paula died later from injuries. The accident occurred after 2 pm at the Sehmidt crossing. The doctor, born in Campbellsport, practiced with his father and served as physician for the North Western. He leaves a wife Jennie Klotz and four children. Funeral is set for St Matthews church in Campbellsport.
