Milwaukee youth sacrifices life to save girl at crossing
William Bartels aged 20 sacrificed his life last night to save a girl when struck by a Milwaukee Northern train traveling forty miles an hour. He died on the car en route to a Milwaukee hospital after suffering a fractured skull four broken ribs and a tripled arm fracture. Miss Leona Barber aged 16 and two others were walking on the crossing when the accident happened. Bartels grasped the girl and pulled her from danger but fell himself. Barber sustained a severely wrenched right arm as the train halted and then sped to Milwaukee with Bartels unconscious.
