In a sudden disaster at Tuscarora the town reports a wreck with casualties and emergency response teams arriving. Officials caution residents and coordinate with nearby agencies as investigators begin detailing the incident and securing the area.
The United States Revenue Cutter Tuscarora struck rocks at Vid al shoals near Detour Mich in dense fog. Bow stove in crew of sixty five saved after Captain Berry sent wireless appeals answered by sister ship Merrill. News reached Milwaukee via relay wireless from Captain Berry to Mrs Berry. The vessel, built twelve years ago at $250000, was racing at high speed in fog when grounded. Captain Berry a twenty seven year veteran with prior command of the cruiser Seminole faced sharp criticism for the accident. The wrecking crew from Sault Ste Marie rushed to aid while all crew members were saved. The Tuscarora, recently inspected at the navy yard and nicknamed the beautiful swan, has a Milwaukee based crew including oilers Louis Brumeyer and Matt Rattmann. Captain Berry and chief engineer John I Bryan, a Bryan relative, are among officers noted for long service.
Associated Press reports at Poughkeepsie detail the intercollegiate rowing championships with seventeen crews in three races. On a sheriff's sale Geor ge Cram and John Foster bid in the Gerrals Mill property formerly known as the Dassow mill located 31% miles west of Sheboygan Falls. The mill property brought $2,800 and includes ten acres and water power. The mill burned to the ground about a year ago. L. V. Reckord sued George H. Cram, John Foster, A. Sherman, R. E. Sherman, Evan A. Evans, Charities Barth and A. Collins on foreclosure.
Ill health from a hunger strike led to the release of Laura Lennox former editor of the Suffragette who was sentenced to six months for conspiracy on June 17. None of the other sentences were accompanied by protest or refusals to eat.
Fred L Dennett and OO B Joerns of the Water Commission issue a call for 8 o clock this evening in the council chamber to select a superintendent in place of Theodore Dieckmann. The notice warns other matters may be considered. The plan, if radical action is taken, could harm the city of Sheboygan and its thriving plant crediting Dieckmann’s leadership.
Joseph Mildman aged 59 died at his Plymouth home after a lingering illness. He had lived in Plymouth many years and was a painter by trade. Survived by wife and three sons Fred Clyde Bernal, all at home. He belonged to Spritzen Co. funeral led by company members. Rev. Ludwig of Oshkosh officiated. TRAUTSCHOLD. Frederick Trautschold’s funeral held at 8 am from north side Catholic church. Rev. Fr. Thill officiated. interment in north side Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were members of societies he belonged to. SCHULTZ. Nora Schultz, daughter of Mr Fred Schultz, died at Two Rivers home. Funeral held yesterday.
Attorney Thomas S. Nolan of Janesville, a prominent Wisconsin lawyer, appeared for plaintiffs in a mortgage suit over the Gerrals Mill property that was sold this morning. Dr and Mrs H Hill hosted fourteen boys at a 6 pm dinner at 1618 North Sixth Street Wednesday evening. attendees enjoyed the event and planned to do ample justice to the occasion.
