Texas Negro Abducted and Lynched in Houston

The body of 24 year old Robert Powell was found hanging from a bridge eight miles from Houston after being abducted from Jefferson Davis hospital by eight masked men. Powell, accused of shooting city detective A W Davis, was taken from the hospital ward around 3 am and dragged to the bridge. He begged for mercy as he was taken. A rope hung from his neck and a head wound indicated a pistol butt strike. Governor Moody ordered three state rangers led by Captain Frank Hamer to assist the Houston investigation.

Remus Freed by Ohio Supreme Court Ruling

George Remus former bootleg king who killed his wife Imogene in Cincinnati last October is freed from the Lima state hospital for the criminal insane by the Ohio Supreme Court. The ruling overturns the Lima Court of Appeals and ends a long court battle over habeas corpus.

Plymouth Man Named Officer

Fond du Lac Dr. G. B. McKnight was named president of the Wisconsin Association of Tuberculosis Sanatoria trustees approved the meeting. Ray O. Fisher of Jefferson became vice president and G. T. Lorfeld of Plymouth was chosen secretary treasurer.

Middlewest storm leaves towns damaged and casualties

Tornadic storms sweep Oklahoma Missouri and Illinois causing deaths, injuries, and widespread damage. Lightning and wind toppled trees wrecked crops and cut power as crews battled fires and roofs ripped from houses. Elbert Reavex, 90, died near Frederick Oklahoma amid collapsed lines and debris. Debris and high winds disrupted several communities including Newark Ohio and Pattonaburs Missouri.

Bruised And Cut When Hit By Auto On Calumet Drive

Ruth Handrow, eight, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Handrow of 1633 N Sixteenth St, was cut and bruised while crossing Calumet Drive yesterday afternoon. She was struck by an auto driven by Ferdinand Meyer of Route 8 Sheboygan, and taken to the clinic for examination.

Five Miners Killed in Morgantown Mine Blast

Five miners died and seven were seriously injured when an explosion hit the National mine of National Fuel Co near Morgantown West Virginia. About 25 men were underground. four bodies were found in Room No 8. The blast, blamed on gas after a shot in No 6 butt, occurred just before night shift exit. the drift mine normally employs about 100 men.

Plymouth Man Gets 3 Months In Federal Case

William Wunderlich of Plymouth drew a three month jail term after pleading guilty to liquor law violations in a federal court in Milwaukee. Other defendants include Frank Nycz fined 100, Jacob Rozik six months, Mary Rozik 200, Walter Milski 250, Joseph Friedman four months, George Shaughnessy three months, Roy McCauly 100, Jon McDonald 100, Joe Amato six months with 250, Eric Schwartz three months, Valentine Maci and Frances 100 each, Joseph Rojic 50.

Woman Held As Slayer Suspect

In daylight near Death Corner Milton and West Oak streets two men John Olivers and Joseph Salamone were killed by a volley of shots from two shotguns. Award Contract For Concrete On Highway No. 57

The county highway committee awarded the 6.2 mile concrete section on Highway 57 north of Plymouth to Christ Johnson of Oshkosh. His bid of 154,898.47 included cement. the total estimate cited was 3108,698.47 if the county preserves this material. Johnson’s bid was the lowest of eleven and about 35,000 less than the highest bid. Construction will start soon.

Guardsmen Await Wind Shift To Free Stranded Sloop

Coast guards at Sauk Trail Beach eighteen miles south of Sheboygan await a wind shift to disperse fog and retry freeing the forty-foot sloop Teddy from the sand. Owned by R T Walker of Chicago, the vessel ran aground during a Sturgeon Bay cruise as Mr and Mrs Walker and a brother traveled by train toward Sheboygan. Rescue efforts paused due to hazardous weather and a damaged spar, with authorities saying outside firms are not needed unless weather improves and the sloop risks breaking up.
