A garbled notice requests issuance of a liquor license for premises at 54 Street Sheboygan to be used for serving strong spirituous intoxicating liquor. The adjoined names appear unclear but include Chicago and WM. Sand as possible sponsors or bonds.
Washington reports Speaker Clark leads in Democratic odds and has carried 11 of 18 doubtful states. Wall Street betting favors Clark or Taft none. Analysts say Clark could secure 270 electoral votes if nominated, with strong showings in California Colorado Illinois and West Virginia amid a broad base of delegates.
Frank Hammeiner fourteen ran away from home on Monday. Chicago officers rounded him up and took him into custody. His parents of 1726 Garden Avenue notified police that he stole 310 from his mother a trunk and a magazine pistol from a boarder. A telegram from Chicago said the boy was found at West Twelfth and South Clark streets. Policeman William Condon searched him and found the pistol. The boy admitted running away. he is a Catholic school student. Chief August Scheck will return with him tonight.
The wheelsman on the steamer Fitzgerald demanded his wages before resigning. Max Asmussen tried to tie the ship to shore in port, but the captain refused payment and insisted he stay until a replacement could be found. Asmussen’s wife had come from Marinette urging him to quit but he refused to depart.
Fred Burrow and Miss Agnes HoeFlich wed yesterday morning at St Peter Claver church with Rev Van Treeck officiating. They reside in the city. Jess Seaman of Adell buys a 1912 Indian motorcycle. E Luthge and Herbert Jung toured Elkhart and Crystal lakes by motorcycle. Steamer Fitzgerald cleared port after coal discharge at Reiss docks. Miss Elma Radloff visited Dubuque sister then returned home. Geo Wolf of Plymouth enters State Business College. Mr and Mrs Chas Bubb and daughter Viola travel to Milwaukee to visit relatives. Mathew Pier and daughter Theresa head to Fond du Lac for graduation at St Marys Academy.
New York June 19 The Hearse Drivers union votes to strike within days if wage and hour demands are not met by the Coach Owners' association. About 1 200 members ready to quit and 800 grave diggers may strike in sympathy. Union drivers tied to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters seek a 12 hour day ending at 7 p m and pay of 15 dollars weekly plus 2 50 dollars per day for chauffeurs with overtime and stable duty changes also demanded.
The Press Publishing Company will dispatch a special correspondent to the Republican National convention in Chicago and another to the Democratic National convention in Baltimore to report full details to readers. Mrs. Christian Matzdorf aged 74 died Sunday morning at her home 1411 Bluff avenue due to old age. The funeral was held Monday afternoon with the Rev Brues er officiating at the Lutheran cemetery.
The J. H. Stevens brought wood for local yards while the Willis L. King departed for Superior after unloading 12 000 tons of soft coal for C Reiss yards in its second spring cargo. The W. E. Fitzgerald was rigged at Dock 1, and hull work on a Detroit built steamer for the Cleveland and Buffalo Transit Co. is rushed for an October launch. A new 500 foot side wheel liner will be the largest of its kind. The Elizabeth G. tug undergoes cabin deck repairs and repainting at M Winter mill dock. Manitowoc plans a sober Fourth with dances fireworks and a parade. George Gunderson, former Sheboygan resident, is now assistant light keeper on Poe's Reef light ship. The Andaste and Andaster steamers brought coal for Sheboygan and Cleveland-Cliffs fleet draws attention in port. The Sunbeam sailed for Milwaukee with a racing yacht tow and a 100 horsepower engine. The J S Crause cleared, and more coal deliveries arrive for local companies.
Mrs A E Cox travels Monday to Chippewa Falls as a Beaver Queens convention delegate. Local residents like Gus Kent and Chas Weisse frequent the Falls, while McKinnon’s Orchestra drew about seventy couples at Woodman hall for a lively Saturday dance.
The couple will unite in marriage tomorrow morning at Holy Name church with Rev Thiller performing the ceremony. The Lincoln School was awarded the all around championship banner this morning for the work done yesterday at the meet.

At yesterday's session of the annual convention of the U S Spanish War Veterans of Wisconsin held in Appleton Mrs Mate Dow of this city was elected president for the ensuing year. Albert Toepfer was named a delegate to the National encampment at Atlantic City in September and Thomas B Kingston was chosen state department commander. Beaver Dam was selected for the 1913 meet.
Field day drew over 4000 witnesses as 1500 public school pupils tackled events starting 1:30 led by Prof Viehweg. May Pole dance delighted crowd. Final dodge game saw Second Ward beat Lincoln by one point. Teachers and students earned banners and medals across Senior, Intermediate, and Junior divisions for U and Grant School.
