Robbers Steal From Illinois Central Express Car

Two masked men robbed the Illinois Central diamond special between Chicago and St Louis about midnight ten miles south of Springfield. They dynamited a safe and wrecked the interior, forcing the engineer to move the car two miles as police pursued. Conductor McWilliams alerted officials. Detective O’Leary was stripped of his guns.

Farmer Daniel Schmidt Dies by Own Hand in Barn

Daniel Schmidt 62, respected farmer living near Walters place on the Upper Falls Road, hanged himself in his barn at 10 o'clock this morning after completing farm chores. His wife found the body. coroner Dr. Arthur Knauf ruled death by strangling. Schmidt, previously in good health, had recent illness and once stayed at Northern Hospital Oshkosh. Survived by his wife, he ran an eighty acre farm and sold much of his produce locally. Funeral plans pending from his late home.

Eleven year old missing boy found near Northwestern depot

Gottlieb Neibert, missing since Monday afternoon, was found by Officer Lyman Byrum near the Northwestern depot. He described two days wandering in Milwaukee, buying a suit, a cap, and a watch, sleeping in a dry goods box, and riding a Milwaukee car before returning home.

Madison Wis June 18 The assembly quickly refused to concur with the Ackley bill which would end the monopoly on the location feature of the Baker Bacon License Law. The vote was 61 to 9 and the Baker law remains unchanged in its present form.

Senator Stephenson Celebrates 84th Birthday Quietly

Marinette Wisconsin June 18 United States Senator Isaac Stephenson marked his eighty fourth birthday with flowers. He found eighty four carnations in a bouquet at his office and received many letters and telegrams. A serenade and family dinner were planned for the evening.

Motorcycle Explosion Endangers Milwau kee Run

Robert Wingate and a young woman narrowly escaped serious injury when their AL MLC motorcycle exploded near the Plankinton hotel in Milwaukee. The rider and passenger were burned as fuel ignited on creosote blocks. police and chemical extinguishing agents aided as the crowd retreated. The woman went back to the city by rail for care. Wingate continued to seek medical help and planned to return home.

Sackett Kills His Wife in Washington Tragedy

Fond du Lac Wisconsin reports Arthur J Sackett, a divorcee complainant since January, killed his wife then died by suicide in Washington. He was the son of the late Dr Howard Sackett former president of the Wisconsin State Dental Association.

Albert Rabe Dead at 60 in Chicago

Albert Rabe , aged 60, formerly of this city, died in Chicago early today of apoplexy. He was bookkeeper for Phoenix Chair Co for years, later involved with American Varnish Co in Chicago and served as secretary. Survived by two brothers Charles of Blue Earth Minnesota and Hugo of Chicago. remains arriving here tomorrow afternoon.

Washington June 18 The finance committee prepared to take up income tax and administrative tariff sections. Chairman Simmons notified Majority Leader Kern that all tariff sections would be ready for the caucus Thursday. Simmons said the caucus can begin work even if the committee has not concluded by Thursday with a possible finish by Friday. The income tax may be altered with sub committee proposals to add 500 for each minor child to the 4000 exemption under active consideration by the majority.
