At Kansas City the Republican platform adopted a farm relief plank amid clashes over McNary Haugen. Senator Smith warned the party must face the issue squarely to win in November. Frank Murphy urged a courteous hearing as farmers warned against a possible split over agricultural policy.
President Coolidge and Mrs. Coolidge travel by special train toward Superior Wisconsin amid a misty rain. Col James Coupal reports Mrs Coolidge's improved health after a two day delay in leaving Washington. The journey includes a radio on board to monitor Kansas City convention news as crowds gather at New Castle Pennsylvania en route to the summer White House.
In Rowley Bay Wisconsin the confessed father Matt McClash 18 and the infant’s grandmother Mrs Edwin Ostram 47 are held on first degree murder charges in the death of a baby girl born June 6 on a farm near the area. A coroner's inquest found death from carbolic acid and a blow to the head with a hammer as the cause.

London announces the death of Mrs Emmeline Pankhurst a leading British suffrage figure and mother of Sylvia and Christabel Pankhurst. Widow of Richard Marsden Pankhurst she influenced reform groups and devoted years to votes for women. During the war she joined national service and gave recruiting speeches.
Six or eight bandits robbed Home Trust at 1119 Walnut in downtown Kansas City and fled with about $60,000. A bystander and two policemen were wounded. Officer J B Smith was shot in the neck and shoulder. Patrolman Wiggins in the leg. a nearby woman also injured. Tear gas delayed entry as officials counted the loss. Alexander Rieger, president, confirmed about $60,000.
Business leaders and civic groups in Sheboygan met at Ninety Nine Club hall to urge establishing a local airport and port. They backed a motion to ask the common council to designate Kohler’s port as the official Sheboygan port, arguing for speed in air mail handling and to preserve Sheboygan’s industrial identity.

Charles Brockway, 70, of Necedah Wisconsin, shot and killed his wife as she slept. He claimed the gun discharged accidentally while investigating a noise. Brockway, reportedly mentally unsound but not dangerous, had earlier lived with the House of David colony in Benton Harbor Michigan. His 11 year old grandson Mars witnessed the scene and alerted neighbors. Brockway awaits examination in jail.
