Amsterdam June 12 Associated Press Gen von Stein German war minister declared the entente suffered one of its gravest defeats at the Chemin des Dames front on May 27. He claimed the so called Foch reserve army no longer exists and noted American troops appeared on the Marne front as German advances halted. He also cited large German captures of Allied ammunition and material and said British stores were taken.

Junk houses burn Tuesday in massive blaze

Jankow Found Dead in Bed at 63 Years
Ferdinand Jankow, 63, who lived at 104 N Highth Street and previously ran a grocery on N Seventh and Center, was found dead at 8 AM after a five day illness. He worked at the docks for 35 years and had earlier been a businessman with ties to the wheat trade. Coroner and police investigated.
