Allied Reserves Halting German Push Toward Paris

On the Marne front strong American British and French reserves arrived and seem to stop the German advance toward Paris. Heavy fighting persists between the Oise and Marne as Haig reports repulsed German raids between the Ancre and Somme. American patrols operate around Montdidier and bombard targets in the Woevre area. a British destroyer was lost in a Friday collision with no casualties reported.

Falls Motors expands plant and seeks workers in Sheboygan Falls

Falls Motors Corporation enlarges its plant by 136 by 60 feet and plans another addition to boost output for government contracts. Dr Roberts Arrested on Prave Charge

Dr David Roberts was arrested just before midnight on a statutory charge connected to relations with Grace Lusk prior to her shooting his wife. In district court he sought a continuance to June 26. granted. Two counts carry up to $100 fine or 11 months jail each. He posted $500 bail and left with attorney and nephew. crowd minimal.

Moses Car Crashes Over Curb on Eighth Street

C F Moses of 1921 N Sixth Street narrowly escaped injury when his roadster veered at 1030 at the corner of St Clair Avenue and N Eighth Street. To avoid collision with a car approaching from Seventh, he swerved left and mounted the curb. Front wheels remained largely uninjured while the two rear tires were badly cut and the right front wheel spokes were knocked out.

Submarine Attacks Spawn New York Rescue Voyage

The schooner Evan Douglass entered New York Harbor with 250 survivors from the Carolina wrecked by a submarine off Cape May. 156 passengers and 94 crew were aboard including Cept Barbour and ten officers from San Juan. US patrol boat 507 guarded the rescue as Red Cross and Wo men's Motor Corps aided survivors.
