Mangled body found in railroad yards on Sylvester Eve
Bartlett Thill 15 son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Thill of 1611 Indiana Avenue was killed by a freight train near Maryland Avenue during New Year Eve yards routine. He was dragged about 1000 feet before being freed. one leg severed, other mangled, a large chest wound, and left cheek cut. He had cashed a pay check earlier and usually used the yard shortcut to reach home. Coroner’s and railroad crew investigations point to him crawling between cars as the train waited for a switch. He died at St Nicholas hospital shortly after arrival. Funeral set at Hanchett mortuary with interment Wildwood cemetery.
