A car carrying a man, a woman and two children was struck by a North Shore electric train just north of Kenosha Wisconsin. All four occupants were killed and the bodies were badly mutilated in the crash.
John Gallagher operator of a Cascade dance hall and saloon Tom Kelley saloon proprietor in Cascade and George Gardner Waldo soft drink shop owner known as Dyna mite Bill were bound over to circuit court on charges of possessing liquor illegally. They appeared before Justice Harry Walters waived preliminary exam bail set at 500 dollars each and furnished. Arrest followed raids by Sheriff John Case and deputies at their establishments Friday night last week.
Ed Brenner, once an unknown riveter with Stacey Brothers in Sheboygan, rose to nationwide notice as a Sand Cave hero for the Lloyd Collins rescue effort. He was the first to reach the explorer’s body, lowered into the chamber by doctors’ guidance, and later identified in photos while living at Milwaukee House. Two people died and several injured when a southbound Florida-bound train derailed near Grants Bend Kentucky after a broken rail. Victims named J C Merringer and LeRoy McKinley, both Covington residents. Ambulances rushed to the scene from Cincinnati as crews worked to clear the wreck and inspect equipment.
